I know, it's unfair to mention when the USA and Canada are in the grip of this polar vortex, but so far we've had an extremely mild winter. Loads of torrential rain and high winds, but only about 3 frosts so far.
So, on the 2nd of January, we had the first barbecue of the year. It's hard to think of anything finer than a sausage cooked over charcoal. We had them, correctly, inna bun.

Our winter, in Northern California, has been mild as well. Normally, I'm cooking roasts and stews, but this weather makes me want to eat salads instead.
Same over here in Germany...still no sight of snow. Those grilled sausages look mouthwatering.
Happy New Year! Where I live, we need rain. Glad to read you are not dealing with horrible weather.

In my part of the U.S., we're having A VERY mild winter too - so mild and dry that an emergency drought was announced a couple days ago. Yours sounds very similar!
